Independent Ignition Supplies England in Vehilce Resources Directory

Independent Ignition Supplies is the successor business to the one started by Mike Green in Appledore in 1981 when he retired from the regular Army as WOI (ASM) after 22 years service with REME. Initially the business concentrated on the sales and service of outboard motors with the occasional repair of magnetos for small marine engines. In 1988, a large quantity of Wipac magneto parts became available which Mike purchased and offered for sale in a two-page mail-order catalogue. The response to the catalogue was so encouraging that Independent Ignition Supplies was formed. During 1988 and 1989, the catalogue became more comprehensive as more spare parts were added. Specialised tools and equipment were purchased and the art of coil winding mastered. By 1990, the business had grown to the extent that Mike could no longer cope alone. To relieve the pressure, two coil winders were recruited.
